The Nitecore NL169 16340 li-ion battery is the latest RCR123A with an increased capacity of 950mAh. The cell is designed for high performance flashlights and has a protective circuit to protect against overcharge, over discharge and short circuiting.

The NL169 has several internal features, including a pressure relief valve for protection in the event of rapid temperature increase, a microporous barrier to look after internal components and built-in PTC which inhibits high current surges. Externally, the battery is fully covered by a durable metallic wrapper to guard against abrasion and the plastic circuit board protector is resistant to water and impact. The ends of the li-ion battery have nickel-plated stainless steel protectors which ensures high impact resistance, good electrical conductivity and oxidation resistance.
